SUMMARY
You've asked for years when Ophelia and Jamie would get their own story and now it's here! How will Ophelia adjust to living in a dorm room now that she has been banished from the Council and forced to matriculate at college with Jamie? Communal showers! Horrible, pretentious roommates! Humans who try to be FRIENDS! The horror!

MY THOUGHTS
Ophelia has been a force of nature throughout the Half-Moon Hollow books and the prequel Jane Jameson series.  She was turned into a vampire as a teenager and has spent the past few centuries causing havoc around the world.  Unfortunately, for her, her antics finally caught up to her in The Dangers of Dating a Rebound Vampire.  Her punishment is to attend the University of Kentucky with her boyfriend, Jamie, and have to hang around...normal people.

Big Vamp on Campus is definitely more of a character study than a romance.  Jamie and Ophelia became a couple a few years earlier and, despite some random moments, their relationship doesn't really change much.  The story focused primarily on how Ophelia deals with her new situation and whether she can actually learn something from attending college with humans and vampires.  I absolutely adore Ophelia and thought she was a hoot in this book.  Her character is well-designed and, while I don't always agree with her actions, her motivations are explained.  I really liked the way that she was able to grow in just a few hours of book and it felt very natural.

This audiobook is fairly short and easy to get sucked into.  The characters (main and secondary) are well-developed and the plot works for the length.  There are a few loose threads left at the end of Big Vamp on Campus that I am hoping will pop back up in the series, but, overall, I thought this was a nice taste of Molly Harper's writing and Amanda Ronconi's fantastic narration.

  1. I haven't read a Molly Harper book in ages so yesterday I started reading Where the Wild Things Bite and I'm really enjoying it. I haven't met Ophelia before, but that's because I haven't read the Jane Jameson books. I really should. Glad you liked this novella.

    1. I haven't read Where the Wild Things Bite yet, but it is the next audiobook I'm going to listen to after I finish Julie James's Something About You...which is awesome!
