SUMMARY
How did Andrea and Dick Cheney fall in love? Join Half-Moon Hollow’s favorite couple for a trip down memory lane—to a time when Mr. Wainwright was newly dead, Jane Jameson was a newbie vampire, and a budding paranormal romance was not yet uncorked…

Half-Moon Hollow’s supernatural social event of the season—Zeb’s Titanic-themed werewolf wedding—is coming up, and Dick Cheney (not that Dick Cheney!) needs a date. But Andrea’s had enough of clever, handsome, and rakish to last a lifetime, and Dick Cheney is certainly not the sort of man you bring home to mom (not that Andrea’s deadist parents are speaking to her ever since she dropped out of college and became a blood surrogate.) Shameless, relentless, roguish, with a Stetson-worthy swagger, a naughty sparkle in his eyes, and a constant smirk—oh, and fangs—no, Dick is the last person (er…vampire) Andrea wants to date.

But the infuriatingly irresistible man who lives quietly on the edge of a criminal underworld knows exactly what he wants, and once he surprises Andrea with a thrilling hot and dirty kiss behind the paranormal bookshop, she knows what she wants too: Dick. All it takes to ignite their unconventional courtship is a near-undeath experience that confronts Dick with a choice between turning Andrea, losing her forever, or tapping into his countless shady resources.

FIRST LINE
"If I moved even one inch, I was going to be crushed by a stack of werewolf mating guides."

MY THOUGHTS
I received a free copy of this book from Pocket Star via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Dick and Andrea are a couple whose love story is told on the outskirts of the Jane Jameson series and they are a great example of the "opposites attract" theme.  Fangs for the Memories is a fun little story that pushes these side characters into the spotlight and lets long-time fans of Harper's paranormal world see their point of view.  While I would love to have seen this as a full-length novel, I enjoyed it for what it was and am always happy to visit Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky.

Fangs for the Memories takes place during the events of Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men and focuses on the time immediately following the death of Gilbert Wainwright, owner of Specialty Books and Jane's boss.  The crew is dealing with the Mr. Wainwright situation (complicated by the fact that he is now a ghost) and are also preparing for Zeb and Jolene's fast approaching Titanic-themed wedding.  In the middle of everything, blood surrogate Andrea is trying to deal with her growing feelings for sexy bad boy vampire, Dick Cheney.

I loved getting to see things from Andrea's perspective.  I had ideas about how she ended up in Half-Moon Hollow working as a blood surrogate, but it was great to get the whole story from her.  She has also has a slightly different sense of humor than Jane which was fun.  And Dick just makes me laugh every time he pops on the page.  There were definitely moments in this story where he showed his more serious side which helped make him even more well-rounded as a character.

The major issue I had with Fangs for the Memories was the length.  Andrea and Dick are such wonderful characters that I wish there had been more time to hang out with them.  The suspenseful part of the story was interesting yet seemed to happen out of the blue and then was resolved with little fanfare.  But, it was a quick, fun read that made me smile so I can recommend it for fans of the Jane Jameson/Half-Moon Hollow series.

  1. I agree! I loved getting a story focused on these two. I'm holding out hope that we'll get a whole book focusing on them at some point down the road, but I'm not holding my breath.
