Happy Thursday, everyone! This is a new feature hosted by Buried Under Romance and Love Saves the World.

What is Throwback Thursday: Historical Romance Edition?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past -- usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.  Since Tin and Mary C. are unapologetic lovers of historical romances, they've decided to focus on this beloved genre.

Here are the rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 2008.

Winter Garden (Winter Garden #2)  Winter Garden (Winter Garden, #2)
Winter Garden by Adele Ashworth
Originally Published in July 2000

Though a celebrated French beauty in 1849, Madeleine DuMais's cleverness is her greatest asset --- and one she puts to good use as a spy for the British. When her expertise is needed in the south of England to break up a smuggling ring, Madeleine willingly puts her life on hold to help the crown ...

Arriving in the quaint resort town of Winter Garden, Madeleine meets her partner in subterfuge. Thomas Blackwood is unlike any man she has ever met. His quiet confidence and mysterious intensity send shivers of pleasure coursing through her ... shivers that slowly melt into a desperate passion. As duty gives way to desire, surrender holds its reward. And Madeleine will never recover from the touch of Thomas's hands on her body --- and the touch of his heart on her soul.

Wonderfully sweet story of two fabulous characters!  I fell completely in love with Thomas Blackwood from the moment we met him and was rooting for him to tell Madeline the truth.  Madeline was a joy to read with her intelligence and self-confidence despite a difficult past.  The espionage plot was interesting, but never took away from the love story.  I also enjoyed the secrets that the characters kept and how they were revealed at the perfect time.  Beautiful setting as well!

"Love expands your soul with something inexplicably fulfilling. If you die without ever having experienced it, you will miss life's only true joy."

  1. I don't think I've ever seen her! I love these posts and seeing all the ones I've missed over the years :)

  2. Hi, Jennifer! It's always so nice when old and new covers are placed side-by-side. I can't decide which one I like more.

Adele Ashworth is another author that I haven't read yet. Will keep this title in mind. Happy TBT!

  3. This author is pretty great!!! I have only read a couple of her books, but really enjoyed them. I do need to read this one though...hopefully soon!! :) Happy Reading!
